I have a question for you folks out there and hoping someone can give me some answers. My males mother supposedly had Epi, is there testing i can have done on him to ensure he doesn't have it or wont pass it on to pups?

Hello Michelle. Unfortunately there is no test ot see if your boy will develope epi or if he will pass it on. If the dam does have epi chances are good that he will be a carrier and should never to bred. Where is your dog from? Who are his dam and sire?

I was told his mother was Porsha, and his father was Chevy but that she had epi after his litter the litter after his, im getting so many story's now i dont know what to do in all honesty i do know he has an appoint with our vet tommorow morning, but in all seriousness its enough i belive i will have him fixed and be left last min tryin to find a stud again LOL. I just dont want to have any one to endure the pain or heartache of Epi. I love my dogs as they were my children and would not wish for anything to happen to any of the. Java my female is perfectly healthy and has cleared bill of health for breeding by the vets. I guess its just a matter of wait and see.

Now I am sure that your boy should never be bred. If I am right his dam Porsha is from a Deja x Aragorn breeding. I also think that Porsha has been put to sleep because of seizures. Sorry to be the bearer or bad news but it is better to be safe than sorry. I wish the best with your boy.

Porsha came from Angela Canning. That is where most of the dogs on this board are from. Please please do not breed your boy. I can't stress enough what heart ache epi causes but even more important is now horrific it is for the precious babies that are born with this disgusting disease.
